Our primary GC, Fran O’Brien, built his reputation as the President of an asphalt/petroleum company, where a mis-timed delivery could have serious impact on enormous projects. He brought his punctual and detail-oriented work ethic, combined with his love of construction projects, to create Windward.

The Windward team includes carefully selected craftsmen with specialties in almost every aspect of construction: stoneworkers and electricians, HVAC experts and carpenters, all working together with a communal commitment to quality, hard work and efficiency.

A long-time South County resident, Fran has enjoyed a diverse career that included serving as the President and COO of the Hudson Companies for many years. An asphalt/petroleum company, Hudson built a solid reputation for delivering on spec, on time, every time. In that industry, a scheduling error or mistake could have a significant impact on an expensive project. It’s a field where precision and attention to detail were crucial.

Fran ported that ethic and the lessons of that industry to his passion for construction and carpentry. Hudson was also a leader in groundbreaking eco-friendly practices in that industry. When you work with Fran, you gain the benefit and wisdom that comes from a career of careful planning and high standards. His love of carpentry is in many ways a love of seeing things come together seamlessly – whether it’s flush shelving, or a complicated timeline properly executed, he brings his drive to your project and will prove the value of experience.

At Windward, we like a challenge. But there’s a tremendous satisfaction in a simple job done properly, as well.

While we’ve constructed homes from the foundation up, rebuilds and remodels are our particular specialty. It’s especially gratifying if you have a challenge to solve and we can leverage our experience and know-how to discover a solution.

Remodel a kitchen, install a wine room, refresh a basement, make an attic useable again. Perhaps an addition, a new garage.
We’ve even built treehouses.

I recently had my house re-sided by Windward Construction Management. I highly recommend this company.  Fran O ‘Brien made the process run smoothly from beginning to end. He was great with communication and scheduling. His estimate of cost was right on target, so there were no surprises at the end. The work was performed when he said it would be, and completed on schedule.  

His team were professional, friendly, and accommodating. Their work was of the highest quality. I could tell they take great pride in their work. They cleaned up all the debris before the job was deemed complete. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome!

Having any construction job done can be stressful, and I had put off doing it in anticipation of problems. I shouldn’t have worried. The job couldn’t have gone any smoother. Fran’s communication and his team’s professional work made the entire process a pleasure! I wish all contractors had that kind of integrity.

There were a lot of different projects that I needed to address. Fran sat with me and we prioritized what needed to be done first, how much each project would cost, and the timeframe for each project.

We started last fall with new kitchen and bathroom flooring, a deck, a side porch, and new gutters. Everything was done on schedule, all deliveries were made on time, and the work was started and completed on time. I cannot say enough about the workers. They were punctual, courteous, friendly, and fun. I have had work done in the past, and many contractors start and then interrupt your project with another job. This was NOT the case. they came, did the work, and finished on time. The site was cleaned up at the end of each work day. Fran was always available to discuss any changes or new ideas I might have.

This spring Windward Construction Management replaced my front porch. Again, the work started on the day it was supposed to and finished on the agreed date and exactly to budget. I was concerned with my front hedges being damaged during construction; every care was taken for this not to happen.

Communication lines were always open with Fran. I highly recommend him and Windward Construction Management.
